SPS, the SRHR Alliance and NEEDS held a panchayat-level discussion in Parsatand on efforts toward a child-marriage-free Jharkhand. Panchayat representatives, anganwadi staff, teachers, students and residents took part.
Participants discussed children’s rights, stronger adolescent groups and ways to organise families and communities. The meeting also covered the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, and implementation of relevant public programmes. Panchayat representatives pledged to work toward ending child marriage in their area.
